You namechecked two which have had some of the highest word-of-mouth ratings ever. Much like the Disney of yore, their aim has been to entertain everyone. Ratatouille wasn&amp;#39;t about French cinema nor was Up just about a man grieving his wife. It doesn&amp;#39;t take that smart of a person to see past the surface hooks to the layers of human stories they are telling. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Bambi&amp;#39;s Mother was killed in the earliest days of films coming from this company. They set the tone that Walt Disney animated features were never going to be just kiddie tales. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Up wasn&amp;#39;t hiding anything. The producers talk about these films, the critics review them, it was rated PG (not G). Families are responsible to look beyond the flash of colorful imagery in a trailer and do a little more homework.
